Charles and Jody Allen founded The Alaska Expedition Company in 1991 and built the Driftwood Lodge. Both Jody and Charles have a deep appreciation for the Alaskan outdoors. Charles was a practicing professional wildlife biologist for 15 years before founding the outfitting company and Knives of Alaska manufacturing operation. He is an instrument-rated commercial pilot flying in Alaska since 1990. He loves to hunt and fish and does so regularly in Alaska and around the world. Both Charles and Jody will be with you at the lodge while you are there. The company's Cessna 206 aircraft is kept at the lodge to assist in coordination and to enhance safety for your group. Jody is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Music. Jody is equally comfortable in front of her grand piano or in the Alaskan wilderness "orchestrating" the many details involved in operating a first-class Alaskan wilderness lodge. Jody will assist in coordinating the many aspects of your trip.
![]() Your hostess, Jody Allen, has for several years practiced the Japanese art of Gyotaku (fish printing). Her beautiful prints now grace many guests' homes and offices, where they serve as a constant reminder of the Alaskan experience. Jody prints silver salmon on fine quality art papers and finishes them right at the lodge. The prints are ready for framing and can easily be taken home with you or mailed.
Charles and Jody Allen also own Knives of Alaska, Inc., a companion corporation with the Alaska Expedition Company. Knives of Alaska manufactures high-grade outdoorsmen's knives used by professional guides, outfitters, and hunters and fishermen the world over. Designed and tested in Alaska's rugged Southeast "Lost Coast" Region, these knives are a joy to own and use. Click here and see the full line. ![]() |
